Orangeries Are The Modern Way To Extend Your Home
Orangeries are becoming a very popular choice for the homeowner looking for a modern and upmarket extension.
An orangery will transform your property and will give you an extra living space for the family to enjoy all year round.
The new building will normally be constructed using more brickwork and less glass than a traditional conservatory so it tends to blend in with the rest of the house more effectively. This also gives you more usable wall space perfect for innovative storage solutions, a hobby room or family space.
In most cases the roof will consist of a solid perimeter (fitted with spot lights internally) with a glass lantern style structure to the centre which captures the natural light, to provide a bright and modern environment.
We will manage the whole project from beginning to end. Where necessary we will be happy to handle any building regulations or planning requirements for you, supplying all architectural drawings.
Tell us what you want, draw us a picture even and then let us design and build you your dream orangery!
Create A Multi-Functional Space
Despite the name conjuring images of a fancy greenhouse in a stately home, Orangeries are one of the most cost effective ways to add living space to a modern home. You’ll have a solid perimeter roof with roof lanterns and solid wall space which means your floor plan can accommodate storage whilst filling the room with natural light.
You’ll have a flexible space that can accommodate family activities, changing as the seasons of your family changes. With open roof lanterns placed to your specifications you’ll have a stunning balance of a home extension that is continually flooded with natural light. And you’ll keep all the benefits of a solid extension too.
Typically Orangeries are considered a permitted development under planning regulations so often their development is simpler than a single story extension. Not only is the space better value for money compared to an extension of the same size, it’s flexible living too.
Solar Smart Glazing As Standard
We’ve all sat being warmed by the sun’s rays in the height of summer, that warm glow is welcomed relaxation.
When the sun pours through south facing glazing it’s power is amplified to warm the room. With smart planning we can balance this energy from the sun to keep the room at the optimal temperature for your living space so it’s warm, not overly hot and stores that energy for keeping the heat in at night.
Calculating the orientation of the space, taking into account the position of the sun in summer and winter, and the way the sun passes around the house during the day, we choose glazing materials that are solar smart. We even think about the position of the trees in your garden and their impact on how the sun warms the area.
Solar control coatings on the glazing will reduce the amount of solar gain even in the largest glazing projects. The smart technology can even help reduce the heating bills in the winter months by allowing additional solar heat to enter the space.
Where you need even more protection we can consider external shading solutions that move throughout the day to keep your new space perfect for you day and night.
Secured By Design Accredited Spaces
Free-flowing spaces that connect the inside to your garden don’t have to compromise security and safety either. With glazing laminations that toughen the glass and smart slides that conceal the runners, you’ll be protected against light fingers and little fingers will be safe.
Toughened safety glass is included as standard so this will help with the energy bills as well as improving security. The quality manufacturers invest heavily in testing their products to make sure that the doors are safe and secure and resistant to the harshest of weathering that we experience here on the south east coast.
Engineering advances mean that you can include triple glazing for added protection, choose the door options that best protect your family, and have a low maintenance door.
All our doors are high security locking and conform to insurance requirements with multi-point locking, internal beading and safety glass.
We know how important it is to you to ensure your family is safe and protected whilst in the home, which is why we only use Ultion locks. Described as ‘the most secure lock ever made’, the Ultion cylinder has never been beaten in any test including; lock picking, lock snapping, lock bumping and lock drilling.
The moment that Ultion detects forced entry it activates an attack lock directly into the central cam, this is ‘Lock Down Mode’.When Ultion is in Lockdown Mode your home and family are safe.
Ultion are so confident in their security that should a burglary take place within 10 years from the point of installation and entry was achieved by snapping an Ultion lock, Ultion will pay you £1000.
