This Conservatory in Leigh-on-Sea had seen better days and was a bit of a wasted space, so Rayleigh Glass were enlisted to carry out a full refurbishment of the structure without altering the footprint of the building.
The base and brickwork was to remain but the client wanted a more spacious area that would be warm and comfortable in the winter without overheating in the summer.
The existing windows and doors were good quality aluminium frames so they could remain in place and the biggest change would be to remove the old poly-carbonate roof and replace it with an Ultraframe Livinroof. This is a lightweight, solid insulated roof with excellent thermal performance meaning that this new conservatory can be enjoyed all year round. We plastered the ceiling and walls and installed spotlights to keep the room bright even on the darkest of winter evenings. There are two roof lights to capture natural light fitted with solar control glass to reduce the heat build up in the height of summer.
The brickwork, old radiators and internal doors that separated the two rooms was removed and new full width French doors were installed to create a much larger and more usable living area.
This is now a warm, safe, light and spacious environment that provides the valuable year round living area that our client can be proud of. Mr & Mrs P. are delighted with their new room!
